About

After considerable discussion, and with tremendous angst on the resulting impact

to our veterans, your Collier-Lee Honor Flight team has decided to cancel our

October 23rd Mission #22 flight. Our reasoning is the significant increase in

Covid related hospitalizations and deaths in the State of Florida. We have always

put the safety of our veterans first, and as difficult as this was it is the right thing

to do. We will keep you posted on when our re-scheduled mission will fly.

Thank you for your continued support of Collier-Lee Honor Flight.

Collier-Lee Honor Flight has flown 21 Missions to D.C. since the

inception of the hub in September of 2013. Collier-Lee Honor

Flight’s mission is to transport local Veterans to Washington, D.C.

to visit the memorials dedicated to honor their service and

sacrifices.

Top priority is given to our most senior heroes – survivors of

WWII, the Korean War, and any veteran with a terminal illness

who wishes to visit his or her memorial.

Collier-Lee Honor Flight is a 501(c)3 organization, comprised of

an all-volunteer group of hardworking individuals. Not a single

person receives a paycheck, reimbursement for lunch, or any

mileage. Every donated dime goes directly to transporting

veterans to DC. Each individual flight, (mission) has a price tag

of $125,000.00. It is totally funded by businesses and individuals

locally. We receive no government funding at all.

The Story of Collier-Lee Honor Flight

Collier-Lee Honor Flight’s mission is to transport local Veterans to Washington, D.C. to visit the memorials dedicated to honor their service and sacrifices.

CLHF was established on September 25th, 2013 to bring this program to the Collier and Lee County areas in Southwest Florida. Six short weeks after forming, a very successful inaugural flight (Mission 1) took place on November 9th, 2013. To date CLHF has transported nearly 1200 WWII, Korean and Vietnam veterans on this deeply emotional and well deserved trip.

Top priority is given to our most senior heroes – survivors of WWII Korean War, and any veteran with a terminal illness who wishes to visit his or her memorial. The program will also extend to our Vietnam War Veterans as space allows.  In the future, we will naturally transition to mostly Vietnam War and all other veterans who served, on a chronological basis. Our Vietnam Veterans to date are the largest group yet to be transported.

Collier Lee Honor Flight is a 501(c)3 organization, comprised of an all volunteer group of hardworking individuals. Not a single person receives a paycheck, reimbursement for lunch, or any mileage. Every donated dime goes directly to transporting veterans to DC. Each individual flight, (mission) has a price tag of $100,000.00. It is totally funded by businesses and individuals locally. We receive no government funding at all. We are currently preparing Mission 20.

Trips are simply not possible without public awareness, support, and relentless fundraising efforts of our all volunteer team. Prior to the Honor Flight Network, many veterans had given up all hope of ever seeing the World War II Memorial. Now they have hope, but time is not on our side. We truly believe that the service of our WWII vets and their sacrifices saved the world from oppression and this is our very small way of saying, “thank you.”
